Helping schools to enhance the teaching and learning process using Information Communication Technology (ICT) through provision of affordable computers, ICT for Education advise and sensitization, technical capacity building and support, teacher pedagogical professional development and support, local education content development, school networking and school international linkages for project-based learning

Applications are invited from six schools to join the Adobe Youth Voices (AYV) (2009-2010) Project cycle

Applications from schools to join the Adobe Youth Voices (AYV) (2009-2010) project cycle. The applications must be submitted to the Uganda AYV project coordinator, Daniel Kakinda at dkakinda[AT]yahoo.com or dropped at the SchoolNet Uganda office, Embassy House, Floor 2 Rm 13, Parliamentary Avenue, Kampala not later than 20th August 2009.

Interested schools should download the application from the link at the bottom of this message. The form should be signed and stamped by the Headteacher. (Print the last page, sign it, scan it and email it with the rest of the application).

 Adobe Youth Voices (AYV) is a global philanthropy initiative implemented in over 30 countries that empowers youth worldwide to comment on their world using multimedia and digital tools to communicate and share their ideas, demonstrate their potential, and take action in their communities.

Adobe Youth Voices (AYV) initiative engages youth from communities worldwide in exploring and commenting on their world using video, multimedia, digital art, web, animation, and audio. AYV initiative enhances the skills and knowledge of educators to use the multimedia tools more effectively with youth, and widely exhibits the student work in community, broadcast and online forums.
Last project cycle (2008-2009), Uganda youth produced media on a number of issues which included: education of the girl-child, early pregnancies and early marriages, Street children, gender disparity in science education, peer pressure, youth born with HIV.
Two of the Uganda educators and four of the students who participated in the (2008-2009) project cycle have just returned from the AYV Annual summit which was held in San Francisco , USA (30th July – 2nd Aug) 2009 where they were further trained in youth media making.
One teacher from each of the success schools will undergo an 8 week online course and a 5 day face to face course. The teacher needs to have access to Internet on a regular basis.
