Final Call for Joining the WSWM Project 2009 Cycle
This is a final call for new schools to join “The World Starts With Me” WSWM Project 2009 Cycle which commences January 1st, 2009 to December 31st, 2009. The WSWM is a Sexual Reproductive Health and Rights project supported by World Population Foundation (WPF) and implemented by SchoolNet Uganda. More about the WSWM project can be obtained at:

This final call is giving an opportunity to only 12 more schools to join. The applications will be reviewed on e first-come-first-serve basis. Applications should be on the school letterhead and should be addressed to the Project Officer, the WSWM Project, SchoolNet Uganda, Embassy House Floor 2 Room 13, Ministry of Education and Sports building, Parliamentary Avenue, Kampala.
All applications must be received not later than 5.00 pm, Wednesday 26th November, 2008.
Participating Schools
The numbers of Uganda schools participating in WSWM has been increasing since WSWM started in Uganda with 3 schools (2003), 10 schools (2004), 28 schools (2005), 50 schools (2006), 68 schools (2007) and 100 schools (2008).
Fifty (50) additional schools are being recruited to join the project to make a total of 150 schools for 2009.

Applications to join The World Starts With Me (WSWM) project from the 38 new schools have already been approved and letters of acceptance sent to the schools. The schools are:

This leaves an opening for 12 more schools only.
Responsibility of the schools participating in the 2009 Project Cycle.
The WSWM program is run on a partnership model between SchoolNet Uganda and the participating schools.
The following will be some of the responsibilities of the participating schools and of SchoolNet Uganda in the WSWM 2009 Project Cycle.
- Attending a 2-day residential Head teachers’ sensitisation workshop on 15th-16th December, 2008 at Mukono Zonal Agriculture Research and Development Institute (MUZARDI) (former Mukono District Farm Institute – DFI). Your school will meet the cost of travel to and fro for the Head teacher and any out-of-pocket allowances where it applies. SchoolNet Uganda will provide accommodation, meals and training for the Head teacher.
- Sending 2 teachers for training to the 5-day residential teachers training workshop on 12th-16th January 2009. (These are tentative dates and venue will be communicated in due course.) The school should provide off -pocket allowance where it applies. SchoolNet Uganda will provide a transport refund based on public fairs and also provide accommodation, meals and training for the teachers.
- Launching the WSWM program at the school, allocating a suitable time for the activity and training the students.
- Sending one teacher who was trained in WSWM in January to a mid–term review meeting on 18th -19th May 2009 at Gayaza High School. (Date and Venue are tentative.)
- Availing the WSWM students in the school with stationary materials. The WSWM curriculum has 14 lessons and students are supposed to produce work every after a lesson. The school should facilitate stationary for students’ outputs.
- Have students participate in the end of project cycle exhibitions. More information to this will be availed at the December 2008 workshop for Head teachers.
- The project provides on going SRH and pedagogical support through school visits. The school should provide all the necessary support like providing the students.
