Wanyange Girls School Launched the Education for the Rural People Using ICT Project

SchoolNet Uganda was honoured to officiate at the launching of the Education for the Rural People using ICT project on 6th Oct 2007 at Wanyange Girls School. The project aims at improving the standard of science education in the rural schools using ICT.

Major Objectives

  1. Building awareness of the importance of education for the rural people as a crucial step to eradicate extreme poverty and hunger and to achieve universal Secondary Education (USE).
  2. Overcoming the Urban/Rural education gap by increasing access to basic teaching/learning materials of rural students and teachers. This improves the quality of basic education in the rural areas, through the implementation of the national plans of Science for All.

This project shall strength the teaching of science for sustainable development , at all levels, with the aim of sharing experiences and best practices, and building scientific capacities , particularly in rural schools. The project employs an integrated model teaching as a mitigation option to inadequate teaching staff and laboratory facilities.

The project involves students producing and recording multimedia content recorded on video tapes, audio tapes and DVDs.
