Low self esteem stops you from clearly determining and developing your personality. You may end up following others through life without having personal decisions.

A person with law self- esteem will always make excuses in life whenever he/she makes a mistake. Such people normally shift blames to other people in order to prove they are innocent! Yet in actual sense mistakes are proof to show that you have tried to do something.

Usually people with low self esteem are subject to being taken advantage of due to their unfocused nature. People usually exploit them to achieve their own personal selfish interests. Examples of such people are sugar daddies who deceive young girls with pretty gifts in order to lure them into cross generational sex.

When you lack self esteem you become a victim of irresponsible sexual behavior such as early sex, defilement, rape and so forth, thus losing respect as an individual in the society or lose sense of value of integrity.

In most cases low self esteem is caused as a result of seeking approval from others. It could be peers, teachers, and parents. What they think worries us and we allow their expectations to take care of us yet following the crowd may make us get lost. The more we try to please other people, the more we are likely to become unhappy.

There is also one’s inability to stand for what one believes. Many young people lack vision in what they do. They fail to see far in their endeavours. Yet having a dream enables you to face your goals and know where you are going, without which you will never succeed in whatever you have set to do.

Low of esteem also occurs as a result of self-defeating mentality. Always wishing to be like other people instead of believing in yourself. When we are not optimistic, our abilities get drained we can’t realize and utilize the opportunities around us. We forget that hard things in life and problems are challenges we face in order to have the urge to keep trying.

Fear, being an emotional response in every human being due to uncertainty of an individual at perceived danger, causes a person to fail to pursue what he wishes to achieve in life.

As an individual strives to say no when ever confronted with challenges of taking decisions, he should set boundaries for himself and always follow them. Always have a big picture which should be your guiding principle in life. Have purpose and direction because without it you lose focus and mess up. Rise up and say no to self-negative talk. Take your position on issues including how you relate with other people. Don’t try to please others when you’re unhappy. Be optimistic about life and have a belief that you can play an important role in creating positive change.

Don’t be a slave to other people’s desires. Finally it is your right to do some thing even when all other people around you and other things are opposing your decisions.
