My Experience at the 2015 Student Peer Educators eLearning workshop held at Gayaza High School by Esther Mirembe, Gayaza High School

I thank the good Lord for having enabled me to attend the WSWM Peer Educators Training.

It was a wonderful experience and I don’t regret having attended. I learnt to work with people and this is very important because I want to be a professional, holistic journalist and it’s an important characteristic that will get me there.

I got to meet new people from different schools having different backgrounds and experiences and this helped me learn to appreciate myself and every opportunity I have at hand, and not to take anything for granted as many people don’t have the opportunity I have.

I was able to discover the journey of a dream that it all just doesn’t start to count when one is done with school, there baby steps in getting there that really count a lot. To mention but a few learning the skills required for your dream career both soft and hard skills, the talents and demands for effective production in your dream career all makes sense. This awakened me to just stop dreaming plain and wake up and chase my dream.

I learnt how to use PowerPoint and use of email among other things which has helped me greatly and I now find it the way to go. It’s so good to use.

I have always and I still have a desire for community work and enlightening especially in rural areas, but I didn’t exactly know in details or to say have a clear picture of the problems these people face. Now that I have got to know exactly the different problems these communities face, I can afford to include them in my prayers and be a voice for them BECAUSE I HAVE GOT TO LEARN THAT REALLY THESE COMMUNITIES NEED US.

I had always struggled to acquire skills majorly because my parents were on my back for it especially my mum but with no personal initiative but through the workshop I learnt to appreciate the fact that these skills are and will be essential in my life and to get me to succeed.

I got to appreciate that in life resources are scarce and only if you use them responsibly can they get to be enough, otherwise resources have and will never be available enough in life.

I discovered that passion for a dream is greater than anything else and it influences attitude positively hence causes altitude. Money should not be one’s greatest reason for doing something, attitude should be before it, as everything else will sort accordingly and among other things money will come

My most important that I learnt, was the motto of a lion it stands by its principles and goals; No matter the state of the jungle, I won’t eat grass. It is not that I am proud but that is who I am.

Otherwise, I want to take this opportunity and thank everyone who made the workshop happen in their different fields, it wouldn’t have been without you especially Mr. Kakinda that for the training and making sure we have a good time. I personally enjoyed the workshop and I guess everyone else did, May the good Lord bless you.
