My Experience at the Student Peer Educators’ eLearning Workshop by Kwikiriza Mary Jane, Buwenge Progressive SS.
It was early Saturday morning a round eight o’clock when WSWM teacher Madam Brenda called Mummy to let me know the hours the workshop was to start. This was like a briefing time I had to get up quickly to set off my journey.
My big sister gave me transport and directed me how I would reach Gayaza High School. Finally at the taxi park, I was requested to pay six thousand shillings to Kampala. Eventually after reaching the city, I walked through crowds of people to the old taxi park where I got lost from when trying to look for the vehicles that reach Gayaza town, but I collided with a student from St. Mary’s who was with another student from St. Mary’s who was also looking forward to the identify the location of the taxi heading to Gayaza High School. In a few seconds, we were able to find the taxi which cost us two thousand to Gayaza town.
On arriving to the town, I recalled when my mother told me to board a Boda-boda to Gayaza High School and it was around one o’clock when I was able to reach the school venue. Here I was impressed by the front view of the front gate that I imagined where to start from. Good enough there were three men discussing, I greeted them and one of them inquired from me whether I was part of those going to participated in the WSWM student peer educators workshop. I replied yes and he gave me the direction where I should go through reaching the computer room.
I was amazed by the appearance of the environment so reaching the place, I feared to enter inside but I just peeped inside seeing no one and I had to keep standing outside where I saw some girls coming from down the valley towards where I was I greeted them and inquired from them to show me the way through the people concerned and after a few minutes we slopped down where we were to sleep as a dormitory, so I was taken by these girls to the room and that was when I came to my senses that am in Gayaza High School that I dreamed at one time so I realized truly that I had stepped at the land of Gayaza High School. In the evening of Day 0, we were brief about the work.
On Day 1, we were woken up and we prepared ourselves for breakfast. Oh I was surprised when I was entering the computer room. It was like a living room for angels full of lights, computers, long tables, chairs arranged and a very tall man who was not identified but when the session began I was able to learn that he was called Henry.
I also got to know the Director Kakinda Daniel and I was also able to listen to the Commissioner Mr Nsumba Lyazi from the Ministry of education, Sports and Technology whom at one time I had heard speaking on the radio news.
I was surprised seeing the people I watch on the soap making and menstrual video Mr. Mbubu Abdalah and the nurse Stella and also Phiona Mukasa my facilitator. So many things happened and we managed to close day 1.
The next morning I had to ask my self-questions why I was among the students attending the workshop because it was my first time.
In addition, I got a chance to hear from one of the Software engineers from Uganda Telecom, Mr Matovu Richard addressing me in his career experiences for success and I leant so many things which I hope they have helped start my future dreams i.e at onetime he showed me the video of time and I leant that time will not want wait for anyone but it’s me to fail myself or luck.
From Mr. Kiberu, I also leant to be with determination, courage and so many things which I hope to also let my other friends know about.
Then from Mr. Lyazi, I leant about AACCCEPPTED which impressed me to move on with my studies and future dream.

Not only being a transformed person or changed person, this workshop has really shaped me in different way that I have experienced how to be an entrepreneur by making homemade liquid soap for income and other purposes. I also learnt how to use computers for accessing health information to improve on my health and then to be the dream maker not a dream wisher. Even when I go back, I have to be a social friend and hard working person.
In conclusion I appreciate the organization of World Starts With Me for coming up to educate us the young generation on the way we should live, not only that but to live with a peaceful changed mind in education, technology and entrepreneur in order to achieve our goals or make our dreams come true.
