Rape involves a forceful act of someone into sexual intercourse by another person. Rape can even happen in marriages.

Causes of rape in marriages

  • (i)  One of the partners may be so busy at home tied up with work forgetting marriage responsibilities. A request from the other partner may not receive a positive response causing the partner to use force.
  • (ii) Forced marriages: If the parents choose the partners for their children, one of the partners may not respect the other’s feelings hence using force.

Effects of rape

  • (i)  Marital rape accelerates family conflicts which leads to family instability and could end in a divorce.
  • (ii) Rape leads to loss of respect from the public and loss of reputation in case the person involved (man or woman) is a public figure.
  • (iii) Rape may cause the raped person hate a given group of people to which the rapist belong. For example if a town girl is raped by a village boy, she may develop a hatred for all the village boys.

Solution

The government should create employment opportunities which will help to reduce the number of idlers and should also introduce different sports leagues during the holidays to keep the young people busy.
