Poem: Sexual Abuse by Mutema Ronald of Tororo Universal College

Sexual Abuse is a trauma
It’s a filthy strain
Leaves its residue
On the soul forever
It is never fully gone
From a person’s consciousness
But it is possible to have
To turn a negative experience
Into a meaningful life
For me and others
We need compassion and empathy
Empowerment not sympathy

Anyone in this position
Don’t feel alone
Everything one day will be well
Don’t give up the fight
Because you have done nothing wrong
My wish is that
Someone somewhere
Would try and understand
This kind of Abuse
I know it happens to most
Every little boy and girl
Sometimes by people we trust most

Don’t put these tragic days
To the back of your head
There is something you can do
Try hard to shout out
Tell someone out there
Do not wish to die
Tell a couple of devoured friends
Light the candle for others to see
Step into the light
Someone will hear your cry
One day, there will be a way out!

Appreciated, in addition, as young people, we need not be exploited by material things for sex abuse.
