Poem: THE MONSTER by Nairuba Harriet of Muterere S.S

Depressing and Disappointing
Frightening and embarrassing
When diagnosed in an individual
Yet you are real and true

Caused by either bacteria, virus or fungi
Through sexual contact with the infected partner
But also through other means like sharing toilets
Terrible you are STI

You included a range of diseases such as
Gonorrhea, Syphilis
Bacterial Vaginosis
And the treacherous HIV among others

With a number of signs and symptoms
Ranging from a nasty skin rash and sores in private part
Smelly discharge from private parts to itching
Irritating and unbearable you are.
Having profound effect on the affected
Stretching from infertility to low sperm count
Ectopic pregnancy to still birth
Killing slowly but steadily

Having mutually monogamous relationship
Being faithful to your partner
And having protected sex will save you
From the horrible STI
